Forever Young sessions are a passion of mine. These sessions capture precious portraits vintage loved ones. Vintage loved ones are parents, grandparents or anyone in their golden years. The mission of the Forever Young sessions is to give everyone beautiful portraits of their vintage loved ones to cherish for years to come.
I recently had the pleasure of capturing the wonderful Sylvia and Bill Kendall. Sylvia and Bill are the parents of my photography and business mentor, Heather Kendall Lahtinen of the Flourish Academy. Sylvia and Bill have been married for 55 years and it all began with a movie date. Over break from college, Bill came by to see his best friend, Sylvia’s brother. He didn’t come home so Bill asked Sylvia is she wanted to hang out instead and the rest is history!

After about 5 or so months of dating, Sylvia and Bill were at a college party having a fun. Bill, ever the gentleman, drove Sylvia home after they had their fill of the party and asked her to marry him. Laughing, Sylvia told me that she recalled thinking Bill had a bit too much party and was joking around with her. He was in fact serious and while we chatted he told me he knew she was the one. So cute!!

I asked Sylvia and Bill what their secret was to being married for 55 years. They both said it takes a commitment to one another. They said even if they were mad at each other, they always found their way back to one another. I also asked what advise they have for couples. They told me that you should eat all your meals together – breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Sylvia told me that if he loves you like he’s supposed to then it all works. As their daughter pretended not to listen, Bill also added another piece of advice – sleep naked! 🙂

I had the most wonderful time with Sylvia and Bill. They are kind and loving people and it was my honor to be capture this special time in their lives and provide their family portraits they will forever cherish.
